Smiley face breakfast

Ingredients

To make 1 smiley face breakfast you need:

  • 2 button mushrooms

  • 1 tomato

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 wholemeal muffin

  • 1 small tin of baked beans

  • a little olive oil

Equipment

  • small sharp knife

  • chopping board

  • frying pan

  • wooden spoon or spatula

  • bun tin or grill pan

  • egg poacher pan

  • plates

Remember to wash your hands and make sure you have an adult to help you with chopping and cooking.

Step 1

Ask an adult to help you chop up the mushrooms.

Step 2

Put a tiny drop of oil into a frying pan.

Ask an adult to cook the mushrooms in it over a low heat.

Stir them to stop them sticking to the pan.

Step 3

Cut a tomato in half then put the two halves in a bun tin or on a grill pan.

Ask an adult to put this under the grill for a few minutes until the tomatoes go soft.

Keep an eye on them to make sure they don't burn.

Put some water in your egg poacher pan and ask an adult to put it on the hob until it boils.

Put a little oil in 2 of the poacher cups and crack an egg into each of them.

Step 5

Put the lid on the poacher and leave the eggs to cook for about 3 or 4 minutes.

Ask an adult to help you warm the baked beans on the hob.

Step 7

Slice the muffin in half and toast it.

Put the two muffin halves on a plate. Pop the eggs on top. Make eyebrows from the beans and a nose from the tomato half (you can eat the other half!). Make a toothy smile from the mushrooms.
